Sugarwood History

Sugarwood opened to the public in 1965 as a nine hole course.  A few years later, the back nine was added.

There was a change in ownership around 1970 and in 1979, Ed Allen acquired the course.

Course renovations started in 1989.  An architect drafted changes to four holes.  Ed took the design and added his vision to make each hole his own; one hole at a time.  In 2012, hole #16 completed the renovation of the 18 hole course.  Today, the course continues to receive improvements ranging from revised tee boxes to new cart paths.

Sugarwood offers a variety of tees ranging from 5,186 to 6,710 yards and is ranked as one of the best public golf courses in the state every year.
